Biographical Statement

George Harmon Seegmiller was born June 15, 1890 in St. George, Utah to Charles William and Mariamne Forsyth Seegmiller. He married Maude Roseman Miles on September 17, 1914 in St. George, Utah. Seegmiller served as president of the St. George and Washington Canal Company, was a member of the Washington County Soil Conservation Service, a Taylor Grazing Act board member in Arizona, and a board member of the Superior Sugar Beet Seed Growers Association in St. George, Utah. He worked as a stockman in Utah and the Arizona Strip area and was a member of the Utah Cattleman's Association. Seegmiller served a term as a St. George City councilman, was a president of the St. George Rotary Club, and was a charter member of the St. George Elk's Lodge. He died August 14, 1977 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The records of the St. George and Washington Canal Company span the years of 1887-1955. The collection contains the financial and business records of the company, as well as their meeting minutes and correspondence. The Washington Field Canal Company records document the merger (1900-1901) of the company into its current corporate body.
