This series is broken into five subseries. Subseries I contains digital marketing material for the Heritage Cove Lecture Series. Subseries II-V contains the four lectures arranged by lecture dates with accompanying transcripts. “Constructing the Hurricane Canal and Homesteading Smith Mesa” was given by Reuben Wadsworth on February 4, 2025. Subseries II also contains the PowerPoint presentation used for this lecture. “Where Two Streams Meet: Personal Stories from the History of St. George” was given by Lyman Hafen on February 11, 2025. “A Crisis of Trust and the Birth of an Underground Newspaper at Dixie College, 1968-1969” was given by Loren R. Webb on February 18, 2025. “History of the Shivwits Band of Paiutes” was given by Shanandoah Martineau Anderson on February 25, 2025.

The lecture series was held in the Boeing Auditorium, room 121 in the Udvar-Hazy School of Business building. The series was organized, introduced, and transcribed by Trevor Cox, Visiting Assistant Librarian for Heritage, Culture, and Regional History

Biographical / Historical

A native of St. George, Loren R. Webb serves as a board member of the Washington County Historical Society and the Sons of Utah Pioneers. He teaches three classes through Utah Tech University Dixie Campus’s Institute for Continued Learning. He is a retired Clark County (NV) School District 7th grade U.S. History/World Geography teacher. He was a reporter in community journalism in Southern Nevada, Southern and Southcentral Utah for 14 years. Loren was also a yearbook advisor the Dixie College yearbook in the late 1990s.
