Scope and Contents

This series is broken into five subseries. The subseries are titled by the creator’s name, the location written about, and the time period that the written memory encompasses. The subseries are arranged by the creator’s last name. Subseries I are materials created by Trevor Cox that include a .pdf written memory of Flood Street Theater from 1994 to 2004 and a .png of the Then and Now Written Memories Project Flyer. Subseries II contains two .wav audio files and one .doc transcript covering both audio files. These files were created by Bob Harris about Washington County outdoors from the 1950s to 1970s and the Dixie College baseball team in the 1950s. Subseries III contains a .pdf written memory from Eva Sanchez about moving to 700 E in St. George, Utah, in 1999. Subseries IV contains a written .pdf memory from Cheryl Waterman about moving to Central, Utah and experiencing wildfires and floods in 2004 and 2005. Subseries V contains two .pdf written memories from Loren Webb about a stranded Dixie College fieldtrip on the Arizona Strip in 1977 and experiences working as a seasonal employee for the Pine Valley Ranger District in 1976 and 1977. This subseries also contains nine additional photographs and a newspaper clipping related to the written memories.

Biographical / Historical

Trevor Marion Cox, 1992-, grew up in Hurricane, Utah. He studied history and library science and was the Visiting Assistant Librarian for Heritage, Culture, and Regional History at Utah Tech University from January 2024 to September 2025. In this role, he organized and led many regional history related projects focused on preservation, outreach and education. Archivally relevant projects include the Heritage Cove Digital Exhibits, the Heritage Cove Lecture Series, and the Then and Now Written Memories Project.

Abstract

This series contains written memories and other material collected by Trevor Cox as part of the “Then and Now Written Memories Project” from Fall Semester 2024 to July 31st, 2025. These memories represent specific places and times in Washington County and surrounding regions that were meaningful to the various writers. Additional materials include donated digital photographs, a newspaper clipping, two audio files, and a digital .png of the project’s flyer.

Arrangement

The Then and Now Written Memories Project Series contains 18 digital files compromising five .pdf files, one .doc file, two .wav files, ten .jpg files, and one .png file. The items are placed into five subseries named after arranged by the creator’s last name. Files within each subseries are arranged first by donation date, format, then item name. Images within Loren Webb, Pine Valley and the Arizona Strip, 1976-1977 are aranged by original order according the listings on each donation agreement.
