This collection contains a letter, dated October 11, 2022, from the United States Patent and Trademark Office offering a congradulatory statement to Kelly Peterson-Fairchild, Dean of Library & Open Learning Services, for the creation of a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) at Utah Tech University. Other materials mark the opening ceremony for the center in September, 2023.

Biographical / Historical
The United Sates Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a part of the United States Department of Commerce that assists individuals and entities in the securing of trademarks and/or patents, and navigation of other protective solutions relating to products and services. Patent and Trademark Resource Centers (PTRCs) are nationally recongnized library centers that provide similar patent protection services to the USPTO and are staffed by trained PTRC library staff members. Utah Tech University's securing of an official PTRC within the Utah Tech University Library in October of 2022 will afford students and patrons access to patent services at a local level available to residents and visitors of St.George, Washington County, Utah.
