Scope and Contents
This collection documents Robert Kohl’s research in archaeology, including the archaeological digs, metates, museums, and petroglyphs in Utah and surrounding areas.
The bulk of the material created by Kohl is from 1986-1989, which he used in writing his articles and presentations. The articles series contains articles Kohl collected from the St. George, Utah and Moapa Valley, Nevada areas. It contains the Utah Statewide Archaeology Society Newsletter, where he was the editor from 1989-1993. The correspondence series contains Kohl’s personal correspondence and his personal contacts. The photograph series is the largest series, consisting of photographs, negatives, and slides taken by Kohl on his archaeology trips including archaeology digs, ruins, petroglyphs, volcanoes, animals and reptiles. Kohl’s Articles and Presentation series contains articles written by Kohl; including photographs, slides and one reel-to-reel presentation.

Biographical / Historical
Kohl worked for 32 years in a small convention facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota working 16 hours a day until it sold out in 1979. In 1980, Robert Kohl and his wife, Helen, moved to Ivins, Utah, a suburb of St. George, Utah. They were seeking new flora and fauna, friends, climate and scenery. Shortly after moving to Ivins, Kohl co-founded a local chapter of a statewide archaeological society and co-founded a Dixie Masonic Social Club. From 1989 to 1993, Kohl was the editor of the Utah Statewide Archaeology Society Newsletter.

Abstract
The Robert B. Kohl collection consists of Kohl’s archaeological collection of articles and presentations, photographs, negatives and slides from 1984-1992. Kohl organized the collection while he was living in Ivins, Utah.
