Biographical Statement
Leo Alva Snow was born September 5, 1881 in St. George, Utah to Erastus Beaman Snow (1853-1900) and Elida Ann (Crosby) Snow (1854-1919). He graduated from the School of Mines of the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering in 1908. From that point he practiced general engineering for nearly 34 years. He became interested in public land surveys for a time and then settled down to general engineering practice in southern Utah. He was deeply interested in irrigation design and construction, city engineering for smaller cities in the state, waterworks improvements, sewer design and construction, and various other problems that confront growing cities. He also worked on highway problems in Washington County as County Surveyor. During 1939 he worked in the Public Works Administration as resident Engineer Inspector. He married Penelope Thompson Bleak (1883-1910) on November 18, 1908 in St. George, Utah. After she died he was married to Lula Pendleton (1892-1959) on September 24, 1912 in St. George, Utah. He died on July 1, 1963 in St. George, Utah.
